Description

Open from 28th April-16th September

A true outdoor adventure awaits you here in the beautiful East Sussex green and rolling countryside…..wild camping with few rules and regulations but a few little luxuries to make your camping trip easy and stress free. Situated next to the National Trust’s Sheffield Park Gardens and opposite the Bluebell Steam Railway - is a relaxed and laid back campsite. Think river swimming, fire building, campfire cooking, den building, messing about on the river - all in the tranquil and idyllic environs of East Sussex loveliness. It is tents and small campervans only here, off grid, with no set pitches; Ouse Meadow provides acres of space, a wonderful atmosphere and just enough facilities to make it easy, without spoiling the wild camping feel of the whole experience.

The campsite itself is spread out over three meadows: the family favourite - Main Meadow - close to the river with rope swings, hammocks, table tennis, table football and other garden games ; Railway Meadow - the largest field - the only one which allows vehicles to park next to pitches, and Little Brooks Meadow which is for couples and adult groups (or sole usage for large groups of up to 40 tents.) Little Brooks runs all the way along the riverbank and is set slightly away from everyone else. There are private, hot open air showers so you can wash while admiring the treetops, and in addition, new toilet blocks have recently opened which are cleaned regularly.

The Ouse Valley way footpath starts straight from the campsite with many trails and routes to explore, including nearby Newick, where you will find lovely local pubs/restaurants serving great homemade food, a bakery, Indian, grocers and butchers. The Bluebell heritage railway is next door for a ride on a steam train or even take a llama for a walk at the nearby Llama Park. It is a back to nature, chilled out campsite, but you are not far from lots of East Sussex’s best attractions should you want to explore the surrounding area. Other places to visit include Bluebell Vineyard and the Ardingly Reservoir.

We can accommodate individuals to large groups.
